It’s a fair statement that we live in uncharted times...a new world of tremendous changes that affects everyone of us at all levels from birth to old age, education, careers, family, home, health care, technology, retirement, cultures and even morality. Therein lies deep valleys of uncertainty and high peaks of possibilities. At the same time, we are enveloped by storms of information..so much information coming at us from all directions...what to read, watch, believe and decide?

So many times we tend to slip and loose our focus at just what it is we're trying to build. Own Your Channel as it is stated is a social network of like minded entrepreneurs.  Building your team, and building it for the final time with your team members should be your number one goal!  It shouldn't matter who the founder or the leaders are, or the portfolio companies that have been chosen to take part in. As stated before this is about you and your team, building a solid structure for its future. Take a step back and ask yourself "Did I come here just to take advantage of the compensation of a portfolio company?".  If you answered that question with a yes, then your only hurting the team that is working hard to create a solid future in this network.

As rough as it may have been put, there are truly a lot of people that are working hard to make this endeavour successful. We have all kinds of members in this channel, veterans to network marketing that have the necessary resources to build a huge channel from the start, to the individual who is trying yet once again to build a successful opportunity and team, or maybe this is someone who is trying for the first time to learn how to build a successful channel.

Have you been watching the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, B.C.? I generally pay attention because it’s great to marvel at the potential of human motivation, discipline and success...sometimes measured in matters of hundredths of a second. The winning exhilaration is undeniable and somewhat enviable because our lives are often measured by these moments of passion. But is there a way we can share joy and success of "winning" without being an Olympian? For example, can we share the joy of "winning" great success in a home business?

Everybody seems to have an opinion about the Tiger Woods scandal…even the Stock Market fell into a lull for 13 minutes as Tiger made his first public appearance and apology in 3 months. For me, the main interest was the psychology of why people behave contrary to their belief systems and the inherent right to learn from their mistakes and get a second chance.

The more I thought about this human drama, the more I was struck by certain similarities.

Motherhood, Security, Independence..are there any more valuable words?  Last week I lived them all and learned some important lessons about being a better networker.

MOTHERHOOD

...involved babysitting three children for my brother and his wife while they went on a much needed vacation. A 3 year old, a 6 year old and a 17 year old became my responsibility. It was full time work. First, the cooking from preparation to clean up from breakfast to a hot lunch to home cooked suppers. Second, the standard duties...mail, shopping, laundry, organization. Third, the quality playtime..reading, sharing discoveries, paying attention, constructive toys, laughter, a few tears, helping, games, redirections (don’t like using the words No or Can’t ) and lots and lots of affirmations. I walked away with a renewed and deeper respect for the countless things moms do (without the aid of a day care facility).

And it’s a full time job..
